I'm not so sure if we've been the best examples for our little elf. He seems to have picked up a few habits these past few weeks.... Well I guess when Santas away, the elves will play. :)

These boots were made for Kendall....
Well, it's that time of the year!
Time for the
HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW & RODEO!
If you're from here, ya know it's a big deal! We Texans love our boots and western wear and so I wanted to make sure that the kids were set this year for when we go. Since Kendall's shoes size varies every month and with every style of shoe, I didn't want to spend a lot to buy her boots.
Well, then I had an idea......
I bought these toddler sized BOY boots @ Walmart for $10.
I figured for $10 that would not be too much to spend on them and if she outgrows them in a month- well that would still be worth it. But of course Kendall is way too girly to wear "boy" boots.
So Mommy got creative.... and this is what we got.
Stay tuned for pictures of her wearing them!

Luke, I am your Valentine.
So I start snooping around online for ideas (my FAVORITE thing to do)....
Well, then I stumbled across this:http://www.mrsmcelwee.com/darthbox.html
and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for!
So I used the picture in the link as my inspirations, and used some of her steps- but pretty much just winged it on my own. It was a very simple project. I had everything I needed so it didn't very long at all to make. Maybe a little over an hour?
First you find a box, depending on how big you want your Vader to be. I found this one and it was a perfect mid size that I needed.
Then I cut out the spot at the top for the Valentines to go in.
Now the lady from the site I used, used really nice black paper to cover hers. I decided to go the "mod podge" way since I only had black tissue paper. The lady also suggests that you could also spray paint your box. So it's totally up to you on how you cover it- as long as the final result is an all black box.
Then you go to the site http://www.starwarskids.com and print out your face and the chest thingy. (I'll be honest, I know NOTHING about Star Wars, nada!) I used cardstock to print them on, just so they would be a little more sturdy than on regular printer paper. Next, I used popsicle sticks taped on to the back of Vader's head to make it stand up. Then I made a slit in the box for the popsicle stick to slide into.
So I completely goofed and forgot to take a picture of the cape that I cut out for it. Oops! Sorry, but in all seriousness- it was easy and not complicated at all. I just laid out the black fabric I had and using my pinking rotary tool- cut out a sort of "cape" shape. Is that specific enough? Cause I really didn't give it all that much thought. Then I wrapped it around the "neck" of vader and hand sewed it together.
Well this was the final result.....
Not too bad! It will do the job and Jacob was excited so that's all that matters.
Remember I am a craft blogger in training, so I apologize if this wasn't very good on explaining the steps. Half the time, I'm just coasting through a project or idea and not sure what I will turn out with. Gotta remember that "practice makes perfect", so with that in mind I move on to the next project!

Typical Carrie-ness
This week, I'm busy getting things ready for our annual trip to New Orleans. We leave Thursday after Jacob gets out of school. I am freakin' excited I can hardly stand it! This is the one trip we take every year without the kids. And this year- I *DESPERATELY* need it! Some time AWAY from the kids! Cannot wait! Kiddo's get an extended weekend at Mimi & Papa's. They are excited and I am so thankful that they always keep them for this event. I will live up to my blog name come this weekend! ;)
Also, since we get back late Sunday night and Valentine's Day is the very next day I'm also getting everything done ahead of time for that. Jacob has a party at school and needs some things done for that. So I might not be around so much this week but I will try to post some projects I'll be doing- but not making any promises.
Anyhow, now that you are enjoying me boring you with my ramblings about the week ahead, it's time to feed my little ones.

100 Days Smarter
Tomorrow is the 100th day of school!
Who-hoo!
Apparently, this is kinda a big deal.
I don't remember doing anything for the 100th day when I was in school but this is something they have been looking forward to since the first day.
In honor of this occasion, Jacob's homework was to count 100 things and bring them back tomorrow. Then I guess each student in his class will get a turn to share what they brought and probably have to count them for the teacher. So with Valentine's Day right around the corner we went with the ever so classic, conversation hearts. The BIG ones.
This is his first year in school, and so far he's doing well. Counting is going rather smoothly, just some trouble at the turn of certain numbers (30, 60, 80, etc). He (we) counted MANY times and missed up a few times too.
Kendall wasn't so happy that she couldn't eat Jacob's 'homework".
But her being the persistant little thing she is, I gave in.
Eventually all 100 hearts were accounted for and he seemed very pleased with himself.
Now I just hope he makes it to class with all 100. I can just see him deciding to eat a few on the way to school. Knowing Jacob, I wouldn't doubt it.

Hello, blog. It's me Carrie
(crickets chirping)
Wow. It's finally happening... my long awaited blog.
I'm excited, yet nervous. Not good at these sorta things...
But's let's give it a shot. Now... where do I start?
I am a 29 year old mom of 2 spoiled rotten and absolutely fantastic kids. My son is 5 and my daughter is 2. They are my pride and joy, and on most days the reason I'm ready to pull my hair out. My husband and I have been together since 2001 and though I love him dearly, I swear he lives to drive me insane. We live in Texas, near Houston. Hubby works crazy hours and is gone often, and I am a stay @ home Mom who also keeps 2 other little ones during the week. Which means I am constantly surrounded by kids! This is when you take in to consideration the name of the blog...
Yep, now you get it.
I've been wanting to do a blog for awhile now and just never could get it rolling. I always got way to into the whole "set up" (name, looks, topic, etc) of the idea and always overwhelmed myself and give up. THIS time is different. With the help of my dear and talented friend @ Minx Designs, she has hooked me up! I am so grateful for her help and very impressed. If you're interested or in need of a blog makeover, go see her! Be sure to tell her I sent you! =)
So my intent for this blog, is simply just a space for me to be me. A place I can freely boast about my kids, complain about my kids, and talk about my life as a real life desperate housewife. I also want to display some of my creativity, share ideas, and hopefully inspire others with some crafty projects. To sum it up, pretty much any of my random everyday happenings. I am hoping that this blog will be good for me. Giving me something to contribute to the world, and not feel so isolated as a stay @ home mom. I am bound and determined to make this into something awesome! I am very hard on myself, but I really hope I can live up to that expectation!
Stay tuned... good things are coming!
